In July, we had a unique opportunity to bring two AIW groups together who have heard a lot about each other; however, they hadn’t yet met in person.

Yael, Hila and Dua traveled to Madison all the way from Israel, where they facilitate a regional, cross-cultural teacher leadership project in Jerusalem. During the 2018-2019 school year, they piloted AIW with their teacher leaders, who in turn took AIW back to teacher teams within their individual schools.

Oregon High School (OHS) began working with the AIW framework in January of 2018 and will continue to support four AIW teacher teams during the 2019-2020 school year.  With their permission, two of the OHS teams allowed us to videotape their team meetings. We shared these with Yael, Hila and Dua this past winter, who used them to analyze the team meeting processes and protocols, as well as the role of the AIW coach (me!).

It was truly a gift to listen to the conversation that developed between our colleagues from Jerusalem and the OHS principal, instructional coach, and classroom teachers. They shared experiences, questions, and advice. We hope this conversation is the first of many collaborations to come!
